The Safety & Wellness Specialist is an integral member of our People & Engagement Team, providing support and advice as subject matter expert to Leaders and Team Members across all divisions at BioScript. They oversee and champion BioScript’s Safety & Wellness program to ensure its success and work alongside our senior leadership, operational leaders, and our Safety and Wellness Committees.

How you will make an impact

  • Oversee, evaluate and update as necessary BioScript’s Safety & Wellness Program;
  • Attend meetings and support BioScript’s network of Joint Health and Safety Committees;
  • Complete projects to expand BioScript’s Safety & Wellness Program based on identified safety and wellness-related needs, changing legislation, partner requirements and/or industry best practice;
  • Ensure appropriate safety and related regulatory training (orientation, WHMIS, etc.) are up to date and followed in compliance with legislative requirements;
  • Promote Team Member awareness and knowledge of the Safety & Wellness programs and policies and monitor compliance and participation through a process of audits and reports;
  • Track incident reporting, assist with investigations, identify hazards and risks to Team Member safety and wellness, and verify and validate leadership receives and considers recommendations;
  • Assist Team Members and their Leaders with return to work following a workplace illness or injury;
  • Promote safety and wellness initiatives to maintain engagement with Team Members;
  • Become and act as a subject matter expert in BioScript’s safety and wellness processes, recommendations, and tools across a national organization delivering healthcare services.

What you’ll bring to our team

  • Alignment with BioScript’s Core Values;
  • Post-Secondary education, university degree college diploma or certificate, a concentration in Occupational Health and Safety considered an asset;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in occupational health and safety with a demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and processes;
  • Critical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills, along with an ability to function with a high degree of independence are essential;
  • Experience reporting to and working with Worker’s Compensation Boards and supporting Team Members in return to work following a workplace illness or injury;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and information, monitor quality and performance indicators as well as benchmarks related to the workforce;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships and interact with all clients;
  • Ability to build engagement among peers and business leaders to support new strategies and change management;
  • Knowledge of best practice Health, Safety and Wellness programs, technologies and tools;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and a strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office or other similar software tools.

Job Status: Full Time, Temporary (15 months)
