Principle Responsibilities
The Safety Training Specialist will be responsible for facilitating training programs for both external and internal customers. Meets or exceeds training targets by providing and developing world-class training to customers consisting of operations associates and external customers. This will be accomplished by creating an environment focused on delivering our training courses, employee engagement, and customer retention. Training programs to be delivered include: Rigging, Overhead Crane, Forklift, Working at Heights, and Confined space. Training is conducted in-person at the customer's site.
Accountabilities
- Works with sales and marketing team to build strategies to grow training business in the local area
- Connects with customers through e-mails, phone, and in-person visits to discuss training opportunities and prepares quotes
- Prepares and delivers professional training programs that promote HGC service culture
- Promotes the consistent application of operational standards
- Aids in the utilization of resources through cross training
- Enables the certification of employees
- Ensures customer satisfaction as measured through course evaluations
- Manages the effectiveness of training practices (scheduling, management of training aids and equipment, etc.)
- Facilitates increases in sales from customers through lead generation and passing leads to sales representatives
- Trains with the latest products that are available
- Stays informed of products and services through training and research
- Remains in contact with suppliers on product development
- Monitors industry trends and needs
Required Knowledge and Training
- Post-secondary education – in health and safety or other related field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years experience in an adult training/learning role
- Prior operating overhead crane and rigging experience is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills, written and spoken
- Comfortable training over multiple platforms including in person and virtual
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Travel through British Columbia and some to Alberta is required for this role
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
