We are currently searching for an experienced Safety & Security Officer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is paid a wage of $28.42 per hour.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Provide technical expertise and practical application of hotel security and safety procedures.
2. Perform tasks related to: Security and Access Control, and Occupational Health and Safety and First Aid procedures.
3. Conduct regular patrols during shifts covering the hotel spaces and public areas, per standard.
4. Prepare reports at the end of each shift including log-book entries, general occurrence, fire alarm and medical reports.
5. Respond to complaints from guests and patrons when called upon.
6. Review CCTV footage as required, and monitor cameras as needed.
7. Ensure compliance to all provincial and federal legislation, hotel policies, standards and core practices, diligently assist with inventory controls and safety programs.
8. Adhere to Emergency Response procedures, including a fire prevention program to established legal requirements.
9. Perform special investigations as required.
10. Perform tasks related to crowd control and perimeter security of the building footprint, and various outlets.
11. Maintain a close working relationship with all departments in the hotel.
12. Maintain on-going communications with the Vancouver Police Department, RCMP VIP Section and any other security agencies and assist with special security arrangements for VIP visits when requested.
13. Respond to accidents/incidents, providing First Aid to Colleagues or guests, as required.
14. Complete accident investigation paperwork, incident reports and first aid paperwork per WorkSafeBC requirements.
15. Provide coverage to the Concierge team on overnight shifts in the Residences.
16. Responsible for access control to Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver and our Residences.
17. Ensure compliance to all provincial and federal legislation, hotel policies, standards and security core practices.
18. Undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities, as required.

Experienced candidates possessing both their BC Security License and First Aid Level 2 will be given preference. This role will work a variety of rotating shifts including overnights and weekends.

EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum 3 years previous work experience in a security or safety officer position in another hotel brand is required.
2. Requires active possession of BC Security Workers License.
3. Valid Level 2 or 3 Occupational First Aid License.
4. Knowledge of Criminal Code and municipal by-laws.
5. Typing/Basic Computer skills (MS Word, Outlook).
6. Conflict resolution skills and Decision-making abilities.
