Job description

We are a well-established trucking company fully dedicated to FedEx, having been in business for 10 years, with operations throughout Canada and the USA, with our head office in Dorval, QC.

We are looking for experienced, motivated, and hardworking individuals to join our Company’s Transportation Safety and Compliance Sector to promote high standards in Safety and Compliance in the Trucking Industry in Canada & USA.

As a Safety Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating the importance of safety to all current and newly hired Drivers, and tracking their performance on a monthly basis.
  • Liaising with various authorities and groups (Transport Canada, Labour Canada, Ministry of Environment and Energy, CNESST, vendors, etc.) on behalf of LSKL Trucking Inc.
  • Reviewing and analyzing all accidents and incidents.
  • Reporting and scheduling follow-ups with drivers on any violations, tickets, accidents, injuries, claims, and other incidents.
  • Identifying unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigating root causes, and identifying corrective and preventive actions.
  • Organizing, administering, analyzing, and implementing safety strategies to reduce workplace injuries and accidents.
  • Assisting in the development and ensuring consistency of company policies, programs, and procedures including those related to regulatory compliance.
  • Answering questions and counseling drivers on logs, hours of service, and DOT regulations.
  • Being responsible for driver Hours of Service (HOS) from ELD logs and driver files and qualifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintaining Driver Qualification Files.
  • Managing the Drug and Alcohol Program.
  • Performing audits and/or monitoring to ensure policy and procedure compliance.
  • Developing training and communication of safety and security.
  • Regularly monitoring federal and provincial safety regulations to keep current with safety and compliance programs and to implement changes.
  • Analyzing and generating reports as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Health and Safety or related field, or an additional 2 years of experience that relates to the duties and responsibilities of this role.
  • Safety experience in the Transportation industry required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Canadian and U.S. highway, security, and safety practices required.
  • Great knowledge of hours of service, ELDs.
  • Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods is an asset.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven team player with the ability to align position goals with corporate strategic goals.
  • Proven strength in communication and relationship building.
  • Must be bilingual (French and English).

Must be legally allowed to work full-time in Canada.
