The Opportunity

Deveraux Developments is currently searching for a Safety Manager to oversee our safety program and lead a team of Safety Advisors. What you bring...

• A Minimum designation of NCSO and preferably a CRSP certification.
• Minimum 7 years of experience managing a General Contractor’s project-based safety program.
• Past experience in a leadership role as a Safety Manager.
• Current ACSA Peer Auditor.
• Problem solver with a can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn new software programs as required.
• Knowledge of Procore Project Management and Salus software would be an asset.
• Sound knowledge of national, provincial, and local safety regulations.
• Strong ability to manage databases and software tools.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach to safety leadership.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Train the trainer qualifications are highly desirable. (i.e., Fall Protection, Forklift, Flagger, WHMIS)
• Must have Advanced First Aid.

You will...

• Be based out of Calgary project sites and office.
• Have a willingness to travel to project sites in Edmonton and Winnipeg on occasion.
• Lead a team of Safety Advisors, and provide general safety support to representatives and consultants employed by Deveraux or subcontractors on various large-scale projects.
• Update and ensure statistic/trends/paperwork is tracked and entered into our system.
• Monitor Company and sub-contractor compliance on-site to the Occupational, Health & Safety Legislation and other applicable provincial and federal legislation and standards.
• Be responsible and accountable for continuously improving the company’s safety program on site.
• Review, create, and update the safety manual, Safe Job Procedures, and Safe Work Practices to maximize the safety of critical tasks.
• Lead new employee site orientations and sub-trade orientations, training new workers in WHMIS.
• Complete and follow-up with onsite inspections, hazard assessments, and keep updated and current with all aspects of safety legislation.
• Ensure First Aid is available, kits are stocked, and fire extinguishers are readily available and in proper working condition. Ensure all other additional emergency equipment is available as required.
• Professionally interact with subcontractors, to establish a strong collaborative safety culture on the assigned project.
• Collaborate with the Deveraux project team to foster and maintain a safe work environment.
• Work with the Deveraux team to maintain ACSA COR Certification in Alberta and Manitoba.
• Assist with and or administer the site WCB Worker injury, employer reports, and modified work program.
