Safety Auditor and Training Specialist

Halifax Water is hiring for two Safety Auditor and Training Specialists. One regular opportunity and one 6-12 month term opportunity in the Environment, Health and Safety Department, both opportunities have full-time hours.

As a Safety Auditor and Training Specialist, you will:

• Assist the Manager of Safety and Security in ensuring Halifax Water is meeting all legislative safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain and communicate awareness, knowledge, and preparedness to uphold Halifax Water's safety culture of prioritizing safety standards and practices.

To do this job, you need to:

• Post-secondary education in a related field.
• Professional certifications in the area of occupational health and safety.
• Five years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety background with related experience in JOHSC, training, conducting risk assessments, and audits.
• Have or be working towards obtaining the Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC) designation or equivalent.
• Have a valid NS driver's license.
• Training and experience in Trenching, Excavation, Fall Arrest, Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out, and Operating and/or instruction in the safe operation of heavy equipment.
