We are currently seeking a Safety and Training Specialist to join our team at our Lethbridge County, Alberta location!

What You Will Do:

  • Support the Safety Supervisor in overall implementation of the corporate safety standards and training requirements for the site
  • Coordinate and complete direct safety and production training with site employees
  • Performs a variety of tasks and duties to ensure compliance with standards and laws
  • Supports safety and production requirements by leading employee direct training.
  • Organizes work regarding site training needs and safety standard direction
  • Coordinates and completes duties and tasks to ensure safety standard requirements are implemented
  • Promotes employee awareness of safety through training and employee engagement
  • Works with safety administrator to maintain record keeping
  • Various other duties as assigned by supervisors

Education:

  • You have an Associate’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field

What Skills You Need:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience of direct experience related to Agriculture, Safety, or related field
  • Knowledge of seed production and process
  • You are comfortable with technology and possess good a computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and are willing and able to learn other company specific applications as required
  • You have attention to detail, are self-motivated, and an independent thinker
  • You are willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: Climb and/or work in elevated areas, Stand and sit for extended periods, work outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions, lift up to fifty (50) lbs., and perform work that involves repetitive motion and lifting
  • You have a valid driver’s license, so you will be able to drive company vehicles on-assignment when needed
  • Ability to coach, supervise and lead others within a team
  • You possess problem solving capabilities, conflict management skills, and the ability to make decisions
  • Ability to interpret technical writing, regulations, and procedures
  • Knowledge and awareness of existing and proposed federal and provincial regulations
  • You possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • You uphold health and safety to the highest standard! You consistently help others and demonstrate adherence to safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure you and your colleagues go home safely every day
  • You understand that delivering to our customers on-time keeps us viable and are willing and able to work a rotating shift and overtime hours, which include nights and weekends during seasonal peaks to support production demand

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or Agricultural
  • You have three (3) or more years of direct experience related to Agriculture, Safety, or Occupational Health
  • Knowledge or experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Continuous Improvement and Standardized Work
