Job description

Responsibilities:

Provides a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technological needs. Interacts with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to understand their requirements through gathering, documenting, and analyzing business needs and requirements. Prepares and advises on business analysis policies, processes, best practices and standards to promote a comprehensive and consistent business analysis practice within the organization.

General Skills:

Leads and conducts business analysis in order to assess clients' business problems/opportunities and documents the business requirements in such a way that I&IT solutions can be determined. Applies re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through alternative and cost-effective service delivery approaches. Develops strategies, prepares business cases and cost-benefit analysis, and conducts feasibility studies for business I&IT initiatives. Develops sound processes for requirements gathering including but not limited to JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, etc. Conducts business modeling; use case modeling; conceptual and logical data modeling; process and data flow modeling; use case surveys; business rules definition and non-functional requirements definitions for assigned projects. Monitors progress, resolves problems and reports regularly to I&IT management and stakeholders. Develops performance measures and traceability matrices for business analysis evaluation and conducts follow-up. Experience developing strategies, preparing business cases and cost-benefit analysis. Experience conducting requirements gathering, developing documentation, including presentations and briefing notes and conducting stakeholder engagement. Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to document conceptual requirements and scope. Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills. A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

Experience in the use of information retrieval packages. Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices. Ability to translate business and data requirements into specifications sufficient for designing appropriate technology solutions. Experience with a wide range of methods, tools and techniques for business analysis such as: business functional modelling, business event modelling, business process mapping. Experience in structured, object-oriented and agile methodologies for user requirements. Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and subsequent follow-up. Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.

Hybrid Work Arrangement: FFS will need to work at 5775 Yonge for 2-3 days per week at the discretion of HM.

General Skills - 40%:

  • Knowledge of cyber-security related practices including safeguards. Experience will be ideal.
  • Lead and conduct business analysis in order to assess clients' business problems/opportunities.
  • Experience with Agile project methodology.
  • Experience grooming and assembling requirements into coherent user stories and use cases and managing the Product Backlog Items, refining them and communicating changes to project manager/Team Lead.
  • Meet with the Product Owner and end-users to understand the team's work.
  • Act as a proxy Product Owner for the team, where the BA answers questions or facilitates decisions on behalf of an absent Product Owner.
  • Develop strategies, prepare business cases and cost-benefit analysis, and conduct feasibility studies for business I&IT initiatives.

Technical Knowledge and Expertise - 60%:

  • Working knowledge of business system technologies to provide technical expertise and advice.
  • Experience with design, develop, test and implement systems solutions, and evaluate software/hardware.
  • Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle Methodologies and Agile project methodology.
  • Experience with advanced application prototyping.
  • Experience in the analysis and design of Microsoft Azure Cloud Based Applications and advanced workflows using Microsoft Flow & Logic Apps.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Power Platform App.
  • Experience with creating and managing user stories using Microsoft Team Foundation Server and DevOps and/or Jira.
  • Knowledge of design methodologies in Internet-based and/or distributed environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Processes for Change/Release, relational and hierarchical database technologies, use of information retrieval packages using SQL and other query.
  • Knowledge of front-end, web-based technologies and data-mining/reporting-based COTS tools encompassing feasibility studies, requirements definition, analysis, prototyping, system design, implementation, testing and maintenance.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of large hardware and software operations and utilities, productivity tools, client-server architecture, online processing systems, web-based technologies, Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and database management systems.
  • Ability to perform/complete business/systems analysis, consultation, information management, design, development, testing including completion of implementation and installation related tasks.
  • Ability to translate client business requirements into functional and information documentation.
  • Experience in creating business process models, user stories, information models and requirements.
  • Knowledge of IT governance processes (IT Project and Enterprise Architecture related).
  • Knowledge of rules-based engines based in COTS applications.
  • Knowledge of emerging IT trends and technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.

Must Haves:

  • Experience with Agile project methodology leveraging Jira and/or DevOps.
  • Experience transposing requirements into coherent user stories.
  • Strong communications, consultations and interpersonal skills to determine client needs.
  • Experience working with the business users, IT development teams and external vendors.
  • Strong business relationship skills.
