We’re hiring a Rotating Equipment Specialist in Fort McMurray to be part of a dynamic team. If you are passionate about continuous improvement, root cause failure analysis, and cost-effective repairs, this is the job for you!

This role gives you the opportunity to be at the forefront of our Extraction and Tailings operations, where you will have an immediate impact on the business supporting the Operations and Maintenance teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized university with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering discipline with a Professional Engineering designation or eligible for registration with APEGA or a valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate/Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright Certificate
  • 5 - 10 years of field experience in an operating facility (oil & gas, petrochemical or power generation) troubleshooting rotating equipment problems and providing solutions to increase the reliability and availability of the equipment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in material handling, with hands on knowledge on slurry pumps, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, and crushers
  • Experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Reliability metrics, able to troubleshoot and resolve complex reliability issues with rotating equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in Lubrication & Lubrication Analysis, Vibration Monitoring and Analysis, Category I Vibration Certification, Hydraulic Systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, GA’s, piping isometrics, etc. is mandatory
  • Must have the ability to manage conflicting priorities while supporting Maintenance and Operations
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for Operations and Maintenance, providing troubleshooting support for emerging risks related to rotating assets, ensuring clear communication and coordination to all affected
  • Specialize in the short-term challenges of maintaining asset operational capabilities, focusing on proactive improvements and long-term strategies
  • Create SAP work notifications for repairs and use technical knowledge to prepare work scopes and coordinate complex repairs, including equipment overhauls and maintenance projects
  • Monitor equipment health, troubleshoot performance and failures, and work with the PU lead to complete root cause analysis
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to decrease operating cost, and increase equipment MTBR and reliability
  • Participate in Bad Actor elimination initiatives
  • Manage the asset care of rotating equipment at Baseplant
  • Determine cost advantages of repair alternatives and develop action plans that comply with demands of your business unit
  • Review and update equipment strategies, BOM’s, and Maintenance Plans
  • Perform rotating equipment inspections during outages
Location and Other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This position is safety-sensitive
