Job Description
Based in Moncton, New Brunswick, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor will take direction from the EHS Manager and support AIM's Recycling facility located in Moncton, as well as supporting other sites in the Atlantic Region. In close collaboration with the EHS team and Site Managers, the incumbent will advise and assist in the planning, organizing, monitoring, and review of daily site activities, incidents, Safe Return to Work, and Occupational Disease prevention.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the continual development of an EHS culture with all managers/employees
- Advising, collaborating, and supporting managers regarding related strategic EHS initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools
- Assisting and training supervisors in performing inspections of workplace and work practices to ensure that safety rules and regulatory requirements are respected
- Performing occupational risk analysis and proposing preventive measures
- Conducting investigations and analyzing work-related accidents with supervisors and managers
- Supporting and auditing the adequacy and effectiveness of preventive measures
- Participating and collaborating with regulatory and third parties for inspections or investigations (fire services, etc.)
- Responding to employees and internal/external customers’ occupational health and safety information requests
- Planning and performing internal training sessions and monitoring completion of mandatory EHS training
- Tracking and reporting on various EHS metrics and key indicators
- Conducting and assisting with orientation sessions for new hires and participating in onboarding activities as required
- Supporting the rollout of corporate/EHS programs, policies, and other initiatives
- Counseling and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Performing all other related tasks related to EHS duties
Qualifications
- A minimum of college-related EHS diploma, university certifications, OR equivalent related experience.
- Five years of experience in an EHS position
- Strong knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent planning, organization, and adaptation skills
- Impeccable attention to detail is an absolute must
- Possess technical skills acquired in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate rigor and ability to multitask
- Has initiative, autonomy, and a developed customer approach
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to think outside the box
- Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy in everything you do.
- Hold a valid driver's license
