Position Overview: We are seeking friendly, professional, and motivated individuals to join our Gift Shop Team as Retail Associates. This role is more than just sales—it’s about creating lasting memories through exceptional customer service, meaningful interactions, and sharing the unique stories behind our products and destination.

Responsibilities

As a Retail Associate, you will:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by engaging with guests in a professional, prompt, and friendly manner.
  • Share the stories behind our products and the Malahat SkyWalk, enriching the guest experience through meaningful storytelling and knowledge of our destination.
  • Assist with the sale of merchandise, achieving sales targets, and ensuring alignment with the business’s goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.
  • Merchandise inventory, restock shelves, and assist with inventory management.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system accurately and ensure accountability for daily cash handling and reconciliation.
  • Support other Malahat SkyWalk departments as needed to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • A friendly and confident demeanor, with the ability to build rapport quickly with guests.
  • A love for storytelling and a passion for sharing knowledge about our products and destination to create a deeper connection with guests.
  • Experience using computer-based POS systems (preferred).
  • Previous experience in retail, tourism, or guest services (an asset).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a polite and tactful approach to interacting with guests of all ages and nationalities.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
  • A thoughtful and professional approach to handling public interactions.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).

Work Conditions:

  • This position requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Cross-training in other departments may be required to support the overall guest experience at the Malahat SkyWalk.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
