Your Opportunity

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Culinary and Pastry Arts, maintains the restaurant outlet in a safe and sanitary condition; maintains the reservations for the restaurant; greets and seats customers; takes and serves food and beverage orders; provides cashier duties; sets restaurant for special events; and performs other related duties as required.

Functions and Duties

1. Maintains the restaurant outlet in a safe and sanitary condition
2. Prepares for food and beverage service by:
   • Maintaining the reservations for the restaurant
   • Ensuring trays, utensils, and dispensers are full
   • Preparing the bar area
   • Assisting with table set up
   • Ensuring condiments are set out
3. Performs restaurant duties such as:
   • Greeting and seating customers
   • Taking and serving food orders
   • Preparing and serving alcoholic drinks
   • Wiping and cleaning tables, dispensers, and coffee machines
4. Provides cashier duties by:
   • Ensuring there is an adequate float
   • Taking in cash and giving change
   • Completing an accurate sale report (cash out slip)
   • Counting, recording, and balancing cash
5. Performs other related duties as required

Education and Experience

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus up to and including one-year post-secondary training (Office Administration). Also require the Food Safe Certificate and the Serving It Right Certificate. Up to and including 6 months related food and beverage experience.

Skills and Abilities

• Able to perform work with minimal supervision
• Able to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, students, clients, and the general public to ensure optimum customer service levels
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Schedule: Due to on-call nature of position, schedule may vary but will not exceed 35 hours per week.
Annual Salary / Hourly Rate: $24.41 - $27.83
