Your Opportunity:

Within the guidelines and policies set down by Respiratory Therapy Services, the Respiratory Therapist I – Supernumerary will provide respiratory care to patients at UAH in all areas as required. This position is supernumerary as per Letter of Understanding #14: Applications for supernumerary positions will be limited to new graduates. New graduates may include: recent graduates who have not worked for an Employer, current employees training in a second discipline; or individuals who have completed a refresher program.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be a graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy and eligible to write, or have passed, the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC). Current basic life support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Must possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, have a positive attitude, be highly motivated, and able to work in a team and independently.
