Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Program Support Team Manager, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the Resource Coordinators (RC) in their role as supervisors of direct service staff (DSS) in the Home Care Program.


The incumbent provides education and ongoing orientation/training to a variety of staff with respect to the RC role and its relationship with other healthcare related classifications within the WRHA including Nursing Resource Coordinators, Case Coordinators, Scheduling Clerks and Team Managers.


The Resource Coordinator Specialist (RCS) identifies inefficiencies in the system, makes recommendations for solutions/changes and provides support and feedback in implementing these changes (under the direction of the Program Support Team Manager and the Director).


Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Resource Coordinator in the community.
  • Experience in adult education preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Recognized post-secondary certificate and/or diploma in a health-related field or Human Resources Management is required.
  • Degree in Health or Management is preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Valid driver’s license and the use of a vehicle.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and the ability to work in a computerized environment is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Procura, MDS/TMM and AMTS is an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of processes, procedures and principles of continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to understand the impact and interdependencies of technology on the system.
  • Dedication and commitment to maintaining knowledge base relating to all pertinent aspects of Resource Coordinator role through ongoing participation in workshops, seminars and review of current literature.
  • Ability to understand and interpret collective agreement language.
  • Ability to understand different working and learning styles and team dynamics.
  • Ability to collect and utilize statistical information and understand the interconnectedness of Community/Hospital/Home Care Offices within the complexities of the Regional Home Care Program.
  • Ability to respond to a dynamic and complex environment which requires organization, good time management practice and working independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to identify deviations from routine standard operational issues related to the scope of practice of the Resource Coordinator and pose alternatives for resolution to program management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the effects of change on individuals and teams to facilitate system improvement.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure and meet deadlines with competing priorities.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent travel is required on a daily basis within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) jurisdiction.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
