Position: Permanent Full-time (Day & Night Shifts)
No. of Vacancies: 2 (Day Shift) & 4 (Night Shift)
Hours: 12 hour shifts
Compensation: $26.58 to $27.91/ hour + comprehensive benefits package including HOOPP pension, disability insurance, health/dental; + Vacation (Relocation assistance is available based on eligibility)
Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Safe Beds Program, the Residential Support Worker is responsible for supporting individuals with daily living while facilitating an atmosphere of safety, independence, social interaction, and community involvement. The Residential Support Worker will work ten (10) to twelve (12) hour shifts to facilitate 24/7 shift coverage.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in social sciences or human services considered an asset
- High School Graduation Diploma minimum
- Experience in working with individuals with mental health and addictions issues
Position Responsibilities:
- Adherence to all policies of the Safe Beds Program, Community Counselling & Addiction Services (CCAS), and Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital (RLMCMH)
- Side by side support/teaching in activities and skills of daily living (meal planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, leisure activities, recreational activities, etc.)
- Support clients with developing, participating and following through with recovery plans and coordinated care plans
- To be aware of and assess all aspects of risk, intervening as appropriate when risk is identified, to ensure the safety and security of all residents, staff, and the premises
- Monitor changes in mental health and addictions symptoms
- Interface with community services and programs with and on behalf of residents
- Plan for groceries, meals, household maintenance and supplies in conjunction with other staff and clients
- Ensure the completion of shift responsibilities and routines as identified in agency policy and procedures, including documentation
- Attend staff meetings and educational/training opportunities as required
- Provide a safe environment by ensuring adherence to Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Policies, Infection Control Guidelines, WHMIS, and Safe Work Procedures; including but not limited to Fire, Disaster and Evacuation Plans
- To maintain confidentiality of all information as required by relevant legal statutes and policy
- Other duties as directed
