Reporting to the Manager, Housing Services and their respective Live-In Residence Life Coordinator, Resident Assistants (RAs) are responsible for ensuring the comfort and success of students and guests in housing. Resident Assistants assist in creating a healthy, safe, supportive and inclusive environment. RAs plan and deliver educational and social programming, assist students with the transition to independent living and post-secondary environments, encourage participation in campus life and activities, and help ensure that housing community standards are understood and followed. RAs are on-call evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as participate in kiosk hours in which they provide customer service to our students and guests. This includes providing general information and guidance, making key cards, assisting with lock outs, checking guests and groups in, providing event information, addressing concerns, and answering various inquiries. Residence Assistants may be asked to assist with developing digital, print, and in-person campaigns to support Housing Services, Residence Life, Hospitality Services and Housing Facilities.
This position works closely with Housing Facilities to help conduct room condition inspections as well as facility code requirements such as smoke detector and door checks.
All RAs are required to attend training August 21-27, bi-weekly meetings, conduct resident and guests check-ins, and support with a variety of events and promotions including, but not limited to, Housing Tours, Housing Move-In, Housing Move-Out, and Welcome Weekend. Resident Assistants are expected to remain living on campus until the final date on their Housing Contract to assist with Move-Out procedures. RAs will be placed in Housing based on the needs of the Residence Life team to ensure a suitable number of staff are allocated to each community. RA placement preference will be considered, but not guaranteed.
Being able to lift up to 50 pounds safely is an asset for the purposes of Housing Move-In and Move-Out procedures.
$750 - $875 Monthly
Hour structure is based on an average of approximately 40 hours per month, spread across the required responsibility throughout the contract. During the earlier part of the contract, there is an increased requirement for hours due to training, Fall Move-In, and Welcome Weekend.
