The Resident Area Clerk will support the safe, efficient, and effective operations of the Resident Home Area by providing quality clerical support. In collaboration with the Charge Nurse, the Resident Area Clerk will work under the direction of the Director of Care.
Skills And Qualifications
Two-year Office Administration, Health Services (Also known as Medical Office Administration) Diploma or equivalent combination of education and healthcare clerical experience
Successful completion of medical terminology course, preferred
Position Responsibilities
Acts as first point of contact for Resident Home Areas to which clerk is assigned (e.g. welcoming guests to the unit, answering telephones, redirecting calls, taking messages, etc.)
Completes appropriate processes and procedures regarding resident transfer, admission, discharge, resident death, resident activity, leave of absence, program, or clinician change
Responds to routine inquiries from residents and their families and refers urgent matters to the appropriate team member/manager, department
Communicates with staff and/or Manager with any issues, concerns or questions from family/care providers, or Home and community partners in a timely manner
Responds to requests from visitors, ensuring confidentiality and privacy requirements are maintained
Maintains accountability to organizational policy and legislation regarding the access to and distribution of patient information
Liaises with Admission Coordinator and community partners to support safe resident transition processes
Ensures residents records are properly completed, securely stored and readily available to physicians, nurses, and other health care providers
Schedules and/or coordinates appointments, resident transportation, escorts, and meetings as required
