Job description

We want to make a difference and help heal the World. We have an immediate opening for a Research Technician. This position is available in Calgary, AB.

How we plan on keeping you busy:

  1. Contribute to the routine production and testing of plasmid and mRNA. Support the development of the manufacturing process. Responsible for mRNA inventory, storage, and tracking.
  2. Collect and analyze samples using typical wet laboratory tools and equipment.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. Maintain and monitor inventory levels of mRNA reagents and consumables. Track quantities, expiration dates, and usage, and order supplies as necessary.
  4. Consolidate, interpret, and present data, and support the preparation of technical reports.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

What will help you get here:

  • BSc/MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or other relevant disciplines.
  • BSc+2 years of experience or MSc+0 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with biologics manufacturing unit operations, including cell culture, enzymatic reactions, chromatography, tangential-flow filtration, bioreactors, and single-use systems is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Experience with common analytical techniques such as capillary electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA and qPCR.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated observation skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills to track laboratory activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively, influence others, and foster positive team dynamics.
  • Good understanding of GxP practices.

Working Conditions:

  • Must adhere to proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when working in the lab.
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
