Your opportunity:

The Rehabilitation Sciences Sector (RSS) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is a world leader in the delivery of rehabilitation sciences health professional programs and research. The RSS is comprised of four essential departments: Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT), Department of Physical Therapy (PT), Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI), and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).

As Research Services Coordinator, you will work closely with RSS research leaders to help coordinate graduate research projects and support the RSS research enterprise. Your strong communication and relationship building skills will enable you to foster and sustain partnerships with existing and potential agencies, collaborators, sponsors, and faculty. You will play an essential role in ensuring our faculty are aware of relevant funding opportunities and in providing comprehensive administrative support to the grant application process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications
  2. Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships
  3. Developing project schedules, including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  4. Drafting funding applications, formatting manuscripts and coordinating submission materials
  5. Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and initiatives
  6. Supporting departmental research committee, including taking minutes, agenda preparation and follow-up items
  7. Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets


Essential Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree of Health Sciences or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  2. Minimum five years relevant experience in a clinical rehabilitation research environment
  3. Experience managing research grants, including a demonstrated understanding of the research granting life cycle and knowledge of research ethics board processes
  4. Experience researching, identifying and advising on funding opportunities
  5. Experience interpreting and disseminating granting agency procedures, including NIH, CIHR and other granting agency guidelines, policies and procedures
  6. Demonstrated experience writing and editing, including writing grant applications, correspondence, project materials, documents and reports, and contributing to research findings that are published in academic journals
  7. Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research design studies
  8. Experience supporting committees and coordinating events
  9. Experience preparing budgets and monitoring and reconciling research accounts
  10. Demonstrated experience building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and delivering presentations
  11. Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Professional and statistical analysis software
  12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  13. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with academic leaders, committees and staff, in a fast pace environment to achieve department goals
  14. Flexibility in adjusting to changing circumstances; demonstrated multi-tasking skills; ability to manage multifaceted, concurrent projects and tasks
  15. Planning and coordinating skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and facilitate others to do so
  16. Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve and exercise independent judgment based on sound principles and to take necessary action
  17. Demonstrates initiative and creativity, and professionalism at all times

USW Pay Band 13 -- $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
