Research Associate - Level 1

The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) is Canada’s national military university based in Kingston, Ontario. RMC has within its mandate the provision to carry out research and other forms of support for the Department of National Defence (DND) and other government departments.

Position Overview

Calian is currently hiring a Research Associate to support a project related to optical materials, nanotechnology, and photonics. The purpose of study for this project is the fundamental science of propagation and manipulation of light, including lasers, as well as its interaction with physical matter. Specifically, research is conducted on measuring, understanding and enhancing the mechanical, electrical and optical properties of transducer-type materials to be used in functional devices and applications.

Responsibilities

1. Setting up experiments in optics
2. Collecting research data
3. Plotting research results
4. Writing scientific papers
5. Assisting students in the lab

Qualifications

1. Must have a PhD in Physics
2. Experimental or theoretical knowledge in Optics and Photonics
3. Knowledge in the chemistry of materials
4. Knowledge of surface plasmon resonance and imaging

Additional Requirements

1. You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
2. You are a Canadian Citizen
