Job DescriptionRESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHCThe Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position SummaryDepartment / Research Program: Family Medicine / CERES (Centre for Relationships in Serious Illness) Lab
Dr. Sanders, Chief of the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care and Scientist at the RI-MUHC, conducts research at the intersection of serious illness, communication, and culture, with the goal of improving the quality of care and experience of those affected by serious and life-limiting illness. This research comprises a host of projects ranging from psychedelic medicine and communications research using virtual reality and AI to health systems level implementation research. We seek a motivated, self-sufficient, and organized individual with strong bilingual oral and written communication skills to support and grow with an innovative and multi-faced research program.
Role- Drafting and management of research ethics protocols (40%),
- Recruitment and coordination of study participants (20%),
- Liaise with study collaborators and maintaining project workflows (15%),
- Participation and note taking in weekly research lab meetings (25%),
- Opportunities to participate in drafting and publishing manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals,
- Contributing to grant applications and reporting.
General Duties- Recruiting, screening, and scheduling research participants,
- Following detailed experimental protocols to run research studies,
- Collecting, cleaning, coding, visualization, and analyzing research data,
- Setting up and maintaining technological resources for studies and events,
- Managing and maintaining lab software, hardware, websites, and other technical resources,
- Researching and recommending potential technical and process improvements,
- Basic graphic design (e.g., designing study advertisements),
- Updating and maintaining documentation for equipment and protocols,
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education / ExperienceEducation: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Psychology, Family Medicine, Computer Science
Other education considered an asset for this position: Interest or experience in use and programming of Virtual Reality, AI, and other immersive technologies is an asset.
Work Experience: 0-6 months
Required Skills- Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $48,503.00 - $90,090.00. Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Flexible
