ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This role reports to Dr. Asiyeh Sanaei.
SUMMARY
This posting is for a research assistant in math in the field of graph theory. The main duties consist of conducting literature review and research under the supervision of a KPU Math faculty member. The goal of the project will be to make progress towards solving math open problems or to expand on current literature and knowledge. Preference is given to KPU students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading assigned books or manuscripts to gain the required background
- Conducting literature review, compiling and summarizing the findings, and presenting the relevant discoveries
- Learning the necessary applications and programs for conducting particular tasks, conducting research and creating and writing the results
- Attending regular meetings and discussions
- Working towards making progress or solving problems
- Documenting and writing up the produced results in a high-quality format in order to be presented in conferences or published in peer-reviewed journals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong background in Math
- Knowledge in graph theory (preferred)
- Interest in conducting research in math
- Familiarity with math programs, applications and tools
- Ability to think critically and to conduct research independently
- Ability to communicate and engage in collaborations with other researchers
- Skills in writing results in a logical and concise way
- Familiarity with math typesetting tools
Work hours will be 1-15 hours per week, depending on schedule with flexible hours.
Anticipated hourly pay rate: $22.80
