POSITION
Reporting to the Learning Health System Manager, the Research and Policy Analyst is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating protocol procedures and supporting the daily operations of research and evaluation studies, ensuring that all aspects of study protocols are adhered to. Applies specialized knowledge to implement and coordinate moderate to large research projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research Planning and Coordination
- Develops and authors research protocols.
- Develops an implementation plan for research studies.
- Ensures relevant research methodology is applied; all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures.
- Coordinates the activities and resources to enable projects to meet timelines.
- Prepares data management and operations documentation.
- Communicates project progress through regular reporting.
- Identifies funding opportunities, coordinates research proposal submissions.
- Liaises with project collaborators, stakeholders and staff.
- Provides on-going support and builds positive rapport with research sites (may include on-site visits).
Research Support and Analyses
- Troubleshoots research study development and implementation problems.
- Leads the research study ethical review process.
- Recruits study participants and enlists agencies to refer participants; facilitates focus group sessions; interviews study participants to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
- Reviews referrals and keeps track of intakes from various referral sources.
- Conducts and provides advice on analyses of complex data sets.
- Facilitates research learning opportunities.
- Coordinates and manages data collection, delivery, entry, verification, analysis, and reporting.
- Oversees the design of databases, data collection forms, error checking methods and related programmes for collection, analysis and reporting.
- Applies specialized knowledge and scientific principles to review, critically appraise, and interpret published literature.
- Uses statistical software to analyze data and interpret results.
- Writes sections of scientific papers, funding proposals and abstracts.
- Conducts literature searches.
- Develops and delivers information and training sessions.
Primary Care Policy Research and Analysis
- Undertakes policy and issue analysis, develops options and recommendations and prepares appropriate supporting documentation.
- Assesses existing policies and programs to support further policy development.
- Researches and collects data, evidence and information from various sources to support policy and program development.
- Analyzes and evaluates policy/ program information and data, identifies issues and trends, and prepares analytical and statistical reports.
- Prepares a range of draft analyses, and policy/ program reports.
- Conducts policy analysis and research to assess implementation of policies.
Knowledge Translation and Exchange
- Actively contributes to and supports knowledge translation and exchange initiatives.
- Delivers presentations at meetings, seminars and conferences as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in relevant area of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in research and policy support and analysis capacity for a busy and diverse team.
- Demonstrated knowledge in research and analytical techniques.
- Must have previous experience with research protocols, processes and tools such as SPSS and NVIVO.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented with superior organizational skills.
- Strong critical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to conduct work in keeping with the Alliance’s commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racism (including anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism), French language services, and to being 2SLGBTQ+ positive.
- Knowledge of Research Ethics and Privacy Policies an asset.
- Experience in a primary care research environment an asset.
WORK LOCATION
This position will have some flexibility of working from home and will be required to be on-site when needed at the Alliance office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
COMPENSATION
The Alliance offers an exceptional benefits package, including pension with HOOPP, extended health and dental benefits, and a generous vacation package. Salary is set within Alliance’s established salary grid and policy guidelines.
Annual Salary Range: $69,892 to $81,764
