The Research and Data Analyst will accomplish Homes First Society objectives by collaborating with various staff within the agency to measure Key Performance Indicators (KPI), support in carrying out and measuring the implementation of strategic directions, conduct evaluations, maintain partnerships, support the operation of a Client Information System, maintain data collection platforms, and strengthen capacity and commitment to data-informed decision-making. In addition, the Research and Data Analyst will research the factors that impact housing and homelessness and communicate findings to make a bigger impact within Homes First and the homeless and housing sectors. The Research and Data Analyst will adhere to the mission statement, policies, and procedures at Homes First Society.
Job Description:
- Support with the implementation of the strategic plan and strategic direction of Homes First, including conducting evaluations, surveys, literature reviews, and using other strategies to collect data.
- Work with staff and leadership across Homes First departments in measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Write reports, briefs, and memos to various stakeholders based on the strategic plan, evaluations, and KPI measurements.
- Support with the collection and analysis of data and the completion of reports, briefs, memos, and funding proposals.
- Assist with conducting evaluations to measure the effectiveness of programs and recommend improvements.
- Utilize Evidence Based Practices (EBP) to support program design, grant writing, and policy development.
- Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports, publication papers, literature reviews, presentations, and briefs.
- Support in conducting program Logic Models and evaluation frameworks.
- Assist in disseminating knowledge to frontline staff, middle management, and senior leadership.
- Support maintaining databases required for Homes First.
- Assist with writing technical reports, guidance notes, briefing notes, and other publications as required, collaborating with technical specialist consultants when necessary.
- Conduct research related to housing and homelessness issues to support policy development, analysis, and program development.
- Analyze existing data and pull data for reports, using data visualization tools to evaluate programs and demonstrate impact.
- Work as part of a team.

Qualifications:
- A degree in social sciences such as anthropology, sociology, social work, or other relevant discipline.
- 1 year experience designing, implementing, and/or leading projects, research, or evaluations.
- Experience using digital platforms strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to problem solve and provide support.
- Familiarity with implementing trainings, capacity-strengthening, or learning programs.
- Experience producing reports and publications.
- Ability to be self-directed, work independently, and manage a varied workload.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, decision-making, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy, including the ability to access and use a variety of information system tools.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Comfortable learning/using digital webforms to enter, clean, and manage data.
- Ability to develop and execute plans to achieve functional goals.
- Excellent written communication and reading skills.
- Experience using various quantitative and qualitative data analysis software desirable.
- Experience working in housing, with the homelessness and/or marginalized individuals is an asset.
Working Environment: Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
