Job Description

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each individual, providing patient-centered, comprehensive, coordinated care.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a casual Research Analyst to provide support on a pilot trial using Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in addiction. In this position, you will support the research team in the preparation of initial study documents (including protocol, consent forms, and case report forms) and submissions to the Research Ethics Board (REB). You will be responsible for recruitment of human participants, obtaining consent, scheduling study visits, administration of assessments, data entry, and analysis. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of IMHPR and the Clinician Scientist on the research project.

The position will require a highly experienced health-related research background and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision. The candidate may also be required to assist with other administrative duties, as necessary. The individual will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is primarily located at 100 Stokes Street with occasional visits to UHN.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have at a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, or Psychology with 1-year of relevant research experience.

  • Experience in the conduct of research projects involving human participants is required
  • Experience working with patients with mental health and/or drug addiction is a strong asset
  • Experience with Deep Brain Stimulation is a strong asset
  • Experience administering clinical assessment scales is an asset, and knowledge of REB submissions and Clinical Trial Applications (CTA) is an asset.
  • Experience with data entry and REDCap is required; previous experience in basic data analyses and statistical software packages (ex. SAS, SPSS) is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat is required
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • The candidate will be detail-oriented, possess analytical thinking skills, and be able to exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting program deadlines.
  • Candidate requires the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
