The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is home to leading scientific experts dedicated to informing policy and practice on mental illness and substance use disorders. IMHPR scientists conduct collaborative research on communities, populations, health systems and global health, and develop and evaluate prevention and intervention initiatives to reduce mental health and substance use challenges. IMHPR is committed to equity, informed by the social determinants of health.

IMHPR is seeking one full-time Research Analyst for one year who will work collaboratively with a team of researchers on a suicide-related research program. The Research Analyst will report to a Scientist leading the respective program of research. Specifically, the Research Analyst will be required to:

  • Perform day-to-day administrative duties and research activities across research projects and groups
  • Conduct research regarding suicide (e.g., literature searches, writing literature reviews, etc.)
  • Support the development of research protocols and submissions to the research ethics board and other regulatory bodies
  • Conduct quantitative analyses (e.g., basic descriptive statistics, regression analyses, etc.)
  • Write up study results for publications and reports (e.g., draft academic manuscripts)
  • Engage in knowledge translation activities (e.g., creating presentations, infographics, etc.)
  • Organize and participate in meetings with stakeholders and research working groups


Job Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a Bachelor degree in psychology, social sciences, or related disciplines, in combination with one (1) year of post-graduate experience working in a relevant research setting
  • Have demonstrated research skills, including conducting literature searches and reviews, summarizing research findings, and preparing scientific papers or reports
  • Have experience conducting quantitative analyses using statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, etc.)
  • Have strong writing skills, as demonstrated through authoring papers, academic publications and/or reports.

Experience with EndNote or similar reference management tool is an asset. Candidate must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This position requires the individual to work independently as well as within a team setting.
