PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Digital Health Integration (DHI) Program is a group of complementary strategic initiatives with the goal of digitally connecting healthcare systems across British Columbia. These initiatives provide the ability for systems to transfer and securely share information within and between systems and stakeholders.
The Interoperability program, as part of the Digital Health Innovation Services, provides technical design and implementation services which connect healthcare from all sources in the province and make that data available to healthcare providers in both Primary and Acute settings.
The streamlined services support the following areas:
- Data Persistence: Delivering architecture and infrastructure to support the performative use of interoperable data using API gateways, Authorization Servers, Clinical Data Repositories, Hybrid Data providers, FHIR Endpoints along with Security and Auditing.
- Data Availability: Delivering APIs and FHIR endpoints to all provincial clinical data assets, including working with various data asset owners to assist with access to data using tools and techniques as required.
- Technical Innovation and Research provides a proving ground for technologies not yet in use across the BC health continuum.
- Smart on FHIR Services: Delivering interoperable technologies using FHIR structured data and combining them with restful APIs.
