Senior Research Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategist

Job Duties / Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

We are looking for two Student Assistants to support a Research Associate with the Office of Applied Research and Innovation! Our project, A Social Impact Hub scoping and feasibility study, will explore viable options for Saskatchewan Polytechnic to implement a Social Impact Hub (SIH). We use SIH as a catch-all term for coordinated structures within institutions that provide a range of services and resources related to ‘Social’ issues. Variously, SIHs provide services and resources relating to:

• Equity and diversity
• Student and staff health and wellness
• Integrating EDI into programming, policies and processes
• Community partnerships and applied research to tackle urgent social challenges in our communities

We think this is worth separating out and highlighting, as this is an area where Saskatchewan Polytechnic could be a National leader by adopting Reconciliation as a founding principle of an institutional SIH.

An Indigenous Student is being sought for at least one of these positions, who will contribute significantly to ensuring SIH options are underpinned by the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.

Specific Accountabilities

• Support the Research Associate and project team leading the project, as directed
• Assist with coordination of an advisory committee
• Support Research Associate with information gathering from internal and external stakeholders
• Support with any other information gathering and coordination activities as requested

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program relevant to Social Impact Hubs and the services and resources SIHs may provide
• Demonstrates valuing diversity and effective communication skills
• Demonstrates an aptitude for stakeholder engagement and gathering information through direct communication and email
• Experience of working without close supervision
• An effective communicator, able to seek guidance and clarify responsibilities when necessary
• Demonstrate competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, and Zoom.
• Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment
