Regulatory Analyst

Purpose:

The Regulatory Analyst will be responsible for submitting licence applications and managing approvals for Veren pipeline and facility projects, along with assisting the Environment and Regulatory Team with operational compliance as required. This person will provide technical and analytical regulatory support in a collaborative culture across multiple functional teams including Facility Engineering, Asset Integrity, Operations Engineering and Operations.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

1. Maintain a thorough understanding of all requirements for the review, preparation and submission of license and permit applications for facilities/pipelines within Alberta and Saskatchewan.
2. Manage daily administration and submissions of required data and applications to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
3. Monitor licensing mailbox and incoming licensing requests.
4. Maintain a thorough understanding of all regulations within the jurisdictions Veren operates in, including researching regulations and updating departments on changing regulations.
5. Assist in the development and maintenance of regulatory processes and procedures.
6. Responsible for documenting and tracking corrective actions and follow up of any non-compliance events and regulatory information.
7. Provide data for weekly and quarterly regulatory compliance reporting.
8. Provide support and guidance for implementation and execution of regulatory projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Relevant post-secondary education is required.
2. 2-7 years of technical/regulatory experience in the oil and gas industry is required; operational regulatory experience would be considered an asset.
3. Minimum 2 years of direct pipeline and/or facility licensing experience is required.
4. Must possess a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements of oil and gas operations with a working knowledge of AER, MER and CSA regulations.
5. Proficient with Provincial regulatory reporting systems such as Digital Data Submission (DDS), OneStop, and Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) platforms.
6. Experience with programs such as Abadata, ProMonitor and Converge considered an asset.
7. Team player who enjoys learning, mentoring, and contributing to team goals.
8. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; adaptable and respectful of others.
10. Experience in project management would be an asset.
11. Field experience is considered an asset.
