The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory Tolls and Tariffs West, this position will conduct projects with broad scope in the Canada Natural Gas regulatory area, including preparing and filing tolls and tariffs applications and other filings on the Company's behalf with the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) and other regulatory bodies. This position works in a team environment with other regulatory professionals and legal staff, as well as professionals in the rates, commercial, collaboration, accounting and operations areas. This is a regulatory specialist position.

*Travel is required infrequently, depending on the site chosen for a given regulatory proceeding.

What you’ll do

  1. Assemble and lead multi-disciplinary teams in preparing regulatory filings.
  2. Provide regulatory research analysis support with respect to TC Energy filings, interventions and strategy/policy development.
  3. Monitor and participate in third-party regulatory proceedings, including at the Canada Energy Regulator, Alberta Utilities Commission, and other Provincial regulatory bodies.
  4. Assist in the preparation and drafting of regulatory filings by contributing regulatory economic policy content to diverse material such as responses to information requests and written evidence. This may also include managing major tolls applications, financial audits and routine filings, depending on organizational needs.
  5. Act with initiative to identify and define issues, as well as recommend appropriate courses of action to leadership for strategic decision making.
  6. Liaise with government and regulatory officials in representing the Company with pipeline industry members and industry associations.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. University degree in Economics, Business, Public Policy or related field, preferably at the Masters’ level.
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of work experience in the pipeline, oil and natural gas or electricity industries.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory processes and economic regulation.
  4. Alternative combinations of related education and work experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Previous experience working in a regulatory environment leading regulatory filings.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication; technical writing experience is an asset.
  3. Demonstrated planning, organization and project management skills.
  4. Knowledge of the operations and facilities associated with the NGTL System, TC Energy Mainline and/or the Foothills System.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
