Position Summary:
The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for the quality of patient care based on the current Interdisciplinary Standards at St. Mary’s General Hospital and the Professional Standards for Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses in Ontario. The RPN provides direct care to assigned patients and practices independently when the patient’s condition is less complex such that the outcome is predictable. The RPN collaborates with the Registered Nurse in patient situations that are beyond the RPN scope of practice.
