Under the direction of the Fire Operations Manager or designate, the incumbent will be responsible for the supervision of the operation of the Northern Regional Fire Equipment Warehouse. The successful candidate will be required to work weekends, may be required to work overtime on short notice, and may be required to work at remote fire camps.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including standing for long hours, climbing stairs and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Full Manitoba Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's licence.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, overtime and to be deployed throughout the province if required.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience in the coordination and implementation of shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks and/or aircraft.
  • Experience with inventory control including record keeping.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desired:

  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of small engine equipment.
  • Experience operating a two way radio.
  • Experience in operating a forklift.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health in the workplace.

Duties:

The incumbent is responsible for the supervision, training, and scheduling work tasks for a staff of up to 10 employees. Responsible for the repair, testing, ordering, shipping and receiving, and inventory of fire fighting equipment and supplies. Also include auditing of the Northern Region District Fire Warehouses and Mobile Fire Equipment Warehouses to ensure they meet or exceed current provincial standards. The incumbent may assist Parks and Fire Program staff with other projects as well as other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
