Job Description

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for leading a Regional or District Safety team to a Best in Class Standard, effectively managing safe work in accordance with local regulations and Chandos Safe work procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead, coach, and manage direct reports in an assigned area or district of responsibility.
  2. Communicate and interact with provincial and federal agencies requiring deliverable reporting including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Emergency Services.
  3. Develop and execute effective relevant procedures to further enhance the program.
  4. Implement change based on leading indicators and statistical metrics.
  5. Develop a sound company safety culture working with all levels and departments of Chandos.
  6. Apply expertise to assess risk and solve problems of varying construction tasks.
  7. Participate in project startup meetings and understand the scope of work on projects.
  8. Provide guidance and oversight on incident investigations and potentially severe near misses.

Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years of commercial and industrial construction experience.
  2. National Construction Safety Officer Designation or HSE degree or Safety Diploma.
  3. 2+ years in a Safety Management role.
  4. Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  5. Possess a thorough understanding of 3rd Party pre-quals, including IsNet, Avetta, Contractor Check.
  6. Travel is required throughout the Ontario region.
