Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services major site in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a temporary full-time Regional Development Manager to join our dynamic Donor Relations and Field Operations team in our Donor Engagement and Corporate Reputation division.

The Donor Relations and Field Operations team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by generating and identifying leads, building a pipeline of potential donors, building relationships, and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high quality, committed donor base. In this role you will also be responsible for community engagement and maintaining a good public image for the donation centres to ensure there is ongoing public support.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading recruitment efforts to grow and diversify a flexible, sustainable donor base. You will play a critical role in ensuring that recruitment initiatives align with the organization’s goals and values. You will work closely with peers within the region to develop a sustainable donor base and ensure a robust pipeline to support the commitment of Canada’s Lifeline to patients and registrants. You will also be responsible for leading a regional team to develop, nurture, and grow the organization’s donor base in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment. This role oversees, Business Development Managers (hunters), and Community Development Managers (nurturers) to drive partner and group acquisition, retention, growth, and engagement.

  1. Leveraging your demonstrated knowledge and expertise in sales and donor recruitment, you will develop and implement recruitment strategies to meet organization’s donor base targets, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  2. Utilizing your exceptional relationship building skills, you will collaborate with senior leadership to align recruitment strategies with the organization’s objectives, multi-product offerings, and value add positioning.
  3. Drawing on leadership and team management skills, you will lead, motivate, and manage the recruitment team to achieve individual and team recruitment targets.
  4. You will be responsible for setting clear sales goals and KPIs for team members and regularly monitor performance to ensure targets are met.
  5. Harnessing your excellent organization and data analytical skills, you will track, measure, and report on key recruitment metrics, including conversion rates, donor acquisition, and retention activity levels.
  6. Focusing on your strong interpersonal and excellent customer service skills, you will build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and prospects, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  7. You will oversee the recruitment pipeline, ensuring opportunities are being followed up on, managed efficiently, and converted into engagement.
  8. Applying your exceptional negotiation and time management skills, you will assist the recruitment team in closing complex or high-value deals.
  9. Using your ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, you will stay up to date on industry trends, competitor activities, and recruitment best practices.
  10. You will work closely with the marketing team to ensure that recruitment efforts are aligned with lead generation, promotional campaigns, and branding initiatives.
  11. Leveraging your creative problem-solving and prioritization skills, you will coordinate with the national development team, national contact centre, support and operations teams to ensure a seamless optimum experience.
  12. Drawing on your strong communication and presentation skills, you will be responsible for providing feedback to senior leadership regarding group / partner / customer needs, competitive trends, and recruitment challenges.

Desired education and skills

  1. Completion of a post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in business, marketing, communications or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in leadership roles focused on sales, donor engagement, retention, or growth in a nonprofit or B2B environment.
  3. CRM Proficiency: Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software and tracking systems.
  4. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
