Description: Reporting to the Student Life Coordinator, the Sports and Recreation Technician performs tasks related to organization of the sports teams and events of the department. The Sports and Recreation Technician organizes intercollegiate activities in compliance with the various provincial and national regulations. The Sports and Recreation Technician also participates in the development and administration of academic support systems, fundraising projects, community involvement, intramurals and other related departmental activities.

Responsibilities:

• Participates in the planning and hosting of intercollegiate events, games, tournaments and other department initiatives;
• Prepares and implements the Intramural program;
• Assists in the assessment of student and College needs in the area of sports activities;
• Contributes to meeting the daily needs of team and program operations;
• Assists groups of students or coaches in organizing activities and fundraisers;
• Assists in the planning of recruitment activities, preparing documentation, scheduling and hosting of the events;
• Recommends and participates in the selection and ordering of equipment and material that the college makes available to groups;
• Maintains and consolidates the inventory of uniforms, athletic gear and equipment;
• Prepares all purchase orders, expense reports and payment requests for the department;
• Contributes to the writing, distribution and promotion of information to foster student participation;
• Provides support to coaches in the execution of their daily work;
• Assists in the student-athlete academic support system by ensuring follow-up with students;
• May be called upon to coordinate the work of support personnel involved in technical operations or programs for which they are responsible, and to train them.

Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.

Qualifications:

• DEC in Community Recreation and Leadership Training, or a diploma or an attestation recognized as equivalent.

• Strong English oral and written competencies (to be tested);
• Good French oral and written competencies (to be tested);
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment;
• Proven ability to work with young adults;
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (to be tested);
• Basic knowledge of internet platforms.
