The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is inviting applications for the positions of Recreation Program Monitors & Leaders at the Nelson & District Community Complex.

The Nelson & District Community Complex has been open and welcoming guests for some time! We are operating in a safe, organized and progressive manner. This is a great time to join the team as we are developing and expanding services!

There are multiple positions available for Recreation Monitors & Leaders to champion our diverse NDCC Arena Programs.

Applicants to all positions must be friendly, enjoy dealing with the public, work well in a dynamic, fast-paced workplace, and have the ability to skate with confidence.

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Strong verbal communication skills, including excellent customer service skills
3. Proficiency and confidence in working with children and adults
4. Hockey background and demonstrated understanding of the game, ability to play OR
5. Skating Background with an ability to skate and demonstrate skills with confidence
6. Satisfactory Criminal Record
7. Program Leaders Only: Current CPR “C” & AED and Standard First Aid certification or equivalent.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1. Strong verbal communication skills; including excellent customer service and public relation skills
2. Able to lift up to 50 lbs
3. Ability to work and problem solve
4. Proficient & confident working with people of all ages

Positions are available for Recreation Program Leaders and Monitors for Arena Programs including co-ed hockey and family shinny programs.

These are part-time term positions with variable hours, as per operational needs during August 2024 to April 2025. Success in these positions requires a high degree of flexibility and an ability to work varying schedules which may include mornings, day times, evenings and/or weekends.

Pay for Monitor Positions: $17.40. Pay for Leader positions: $19.76—$21.56 depending on experience/qualifications.
