As the Recreation Manager, you are responsible for providing recreation activities to promote the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.

Responsibilities

  1. Engage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs, and abilities
  2. Assessment and research in order to develop a recreation plan
  3. Implement and coordinate programs, including transportation
  4. Monitor and support the recreation team and/or volunteers in the delivery of programs
  5. Measure and evaluate the success of the program, redesign as needed
  6. Recruit, orientate, schedule and monitor volunteers
  7. Coordinate church services, entertainment, and special events
  8. Purchase recreation supplies as needed within the recreation budget
  9. Coordinate transportation schedule and drivers’ schedule for offsite activities, use company vehicle for transportation as needed
  10. Coordinate a yearly schedule of special events, lead decorating for special events
  11. Prepare monthly recreation reports as required
  12. Write and publish a monthly newsletter and calendar of events, gathering feedback from residents
  13. Provide training for the recreation team and/or volunteers
  14. Oversee the maintenance of recreation equipment and report any concerns
  15. Develop and implement a volunteer appreciation program
  16. Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  17. Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
  2. Completion of Therapeutic Recreation program
  3. Recreation Therapist degree
  4. Registered with the provincial Therapeutic Recreation association and in good standing
  5. Valid provincial class 4 driver's license required
  6. Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset
  7. Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners
  8. Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
  9. Superior oral and written communication skills
  10. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem-solve
