What is the opportunity?
This position is responsible for supervising designated reconciliation processes and providing leadership and vision to a team of reconciliation officers. The incumbent is responsible for the planning and control of the overall functions of the designated team, directing its business and operational needs as well as overseeing regulatory controls. All responsibilities will be carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Standing Orders. The Incumbent will be given a wide degree of latitude within the day-to-day escalation and running of the team but will be expected to refer matters of an unusual nature or urgency to management.
Please note that this is a 12 month fixed term contract that will provide coverage for the 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. AST shift.
What will you do?
- Oversee designated reconciliations ensuring all are completed in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Assume responsibility for the training and cross training of staff and be the primary escalation contact for the reconciliation team and rec owners, ensuring that sufficient staff is available to cover statutory holidays, vacation, and absenteeism with no impact to SLAs. Provide training, guidance and counsel to staff and conduct regular staff meetings to ensure open lines of communication are maintained.
- Assist in Audit Reports, ensuring all is reviewed and signed off as described under SOPs and maintained in accessible files (by report type and month order) for management and/or audit review.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the underlying products supported and the associated processes, such as trade life cycles, payment methods, and general operating policies.
- Responsible for ensuring true breaks are identified and investigated accordingly and that MIS reports reflect accuracy.
- Ensure the team fully understands the controls and how they apply to their role and review regularly for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness while being responsible for the oversight of controls ensuring any issues are escalated to management immediately.
- Identify service gaps and work closely with IT to maximize the usage of current systems ensuring a high level of accuracy (matching rules) is maintained for reconciliations in Intellimatch/EUCs. Ensure processes are not interrupted when new or changed procedures, or interfacing systems are implemented by directing/assisting in the definition of the problem and take action where necessary.
- Provide leadership to the team in setting and attaining quality, measurable goals and objectives in an area where delays and errors may result in financial losses, promoting teamwork, RBC values and key behaviors and participating in the recognition and reward programs.
- Direct or participate in special projects as assigned.

Nice-to-have
- 3+ years of experience in reconciliations or in a banking operations/trading activity role would be considered a preferred requirement for this role.
