Reception Volunteer

Journey Home Hospice – a program of the Saint Elizabeth Foundation – provides specialized 24/7 hospice care for people experiencing homelessness and structural vulnerability at end-of-life. Their interdisciplinary team of staff and volunteers receives enhanced training in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and harm-reducing approaches to care to better serve their patients and their loved ones. All services at Journey Home Hospice are offered at no cost to patients through the generous support of the community.

They are looking for volunteers to start as soon as possible. The schedules for volunteers run weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the volunteer's availability. Volunteers can determine the commitment they are looking to provide (3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc.). All volunteers are required to complete the following:

• Immunization report
• Proof of 2 covid-19 doses
• Vulnerable sector check
• HPCO mandatory online training (work at your own pace)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide entry for visitors and guests into the building.
2. Greet and welcome visitors and patients from the lobby and escort them to their destination, offering hospitality.
3. Answer lobby bell and phones.
4. Accept deliveries, handle mail, take donations (by phone or in person).
5. Keep lounge prepared with information brochures and magazines for patients and visitors.
6. Assist with additional administrative support as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Passion for helping others and making a difference in the community.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
4. Effective communication skills.
5. Friendly and professional demeanor.
6. Basic technology skills.
7. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
