Job description
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication's vision and values.
- This is an entry-level position. Incumbent may operate any one of the following machines:
- Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
- Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
- Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble, and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
- Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
- Unload and load trailers and store material in storage bins.
- Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
- Operate a power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
- Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
- Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
- Inspect equipment and put safety at the forefront of all actions and decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have basic math skills to calculate bar measurements.
- Must have a form of reliable transportation. Location is not accessible via public transit and not within walking distance.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds; some heavy lifting may be necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round (cold, heat, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
Special Demands
- Work schedule: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime hours may be required to accommodate operational demands (during peak seasons).
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Must be familiar with, and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures.
