About the Role:

The Real Estate Development Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the ATCO Land & Development team by managing and coordinating various projects at many stages of the development process. This position will provide administrative and technical support for existing and new commercial, retail, residential, and industrial real estate projects by assisting with implementing project controls for budgets, schedules and project management. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development Manager, and the Director of Commercial Development to ensure the successful execution of projects.

What You Get to Do:

  • Assist in drafting project proposals (RFP’s) to source and procure third party consultants, such as engineers, planners and architects for all projects to ensure best delivery and requirements are obtained as required.
  • Participate and assist with all stages of project acquisition, due diligence, design, planning, construction and operational commissioning activities associated with land development or capital projects, as required.
  • Lead the setting up, managing, and organizing of all project files to ensure files are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Maintain, track and monitor all project plans, budgets, schedules, and other project documentation throughout the length of the project.
  • Assist in the creation of project job tracking as needed to ensure successful projects.
  • Coordinate, plan, and schedule logistics associated with the management of land development and capital projects.
  • Communicate project health and performance, flagging any constraints or issues impacting the project to the Development Manager.
  • Tenant coordination for capital projects, tenant improvements, specifications, land leases, and sale projects.
  • Assist in preparing a project management plan for projects as required.
  • Invoice review, monitoring invoicing, and payment statuses as needed.
  • Critique and manage accuracy of information for all commercial project brand and marketing documentation.
  • Due diligence work, research of zoning and property information as required.
  • Aid in the preparation of the three-year capital and O&M budgets for portfolio properties as required.
  • Purchase order requisitions, cheque requisitions, invoice reviews for third party billings.
What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in real estate development, architecture, urban planning or engineering. Other educational backgrounds may be considered.
  • Three years’ experience in real estate development, urban planning, project management, or construction industries.
  • Understanding of the real estate development process.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, landscape and engineering drawings.
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in other project management software and tools (such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, ARGUS Developer) will be considered an asset.
  • Project Management certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of municipal review and the approval process is considered an asset.
