Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship?

Hatch is seeking Co-op Students who have completed their 3rd year in Electrical Engineering to enter a unique Rail Systems 12-month internship program, based at our Calgary, Alberta office. This program is designed as a pre-employment screening program in which you will both take advantage of an extensive rail systems training program and be given work experience across the diverse fields of rail systems and assurance. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for future employment opportunities at Hatch.

As the successful candidate, you will:

1. Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out tasks for projects in the field of Rail and Transit systems covering: signaling, traction power, communications (Radio, Fiber optics, CCTV, Intercom, Public Announcement), SCADA, Rail Track, Safety Systems Assurance, Systems Integration, and Systems Engineering;
2. Assist with technical design reviews and calculations checks;
3. Coordinate with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables;
4. Assist in the design of power distribution systems;
5. Assist senior engineers and designers as needed;
6. Contribute to overall needs for project completion;
7. Improve technical communication and report writing skills.

You bring to the role:

1. Your enrollment in an Electrical Engineering co-op program from an accredited University;
2. Good academic standing;
3. Interest in rail and transit design as a career;
4. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation;
5. Extracurricular involvement;
6. Knowledge of or experience in a consultancy environment undertaking infrastructure projects;
7. Ability to work in a team environment with multidisciplinary interaction;
8. Attributes of a young professional, including proficiency working in teams;
9. Passion for learning, challenges, and your field of study;
10. Relationship building and community orientation;
11. A thirst for problem solving, innovation, safety, and quality.
