General Accountability

The Radiation Therapist I is responsible for preparing, planning, and delivering accurate and precise ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients according to the prescription of a Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Provincial Leader or Site Manager of Radiation Therapy, with daily work functions supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.

Qualifications

Education:

  1. Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
  2. Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C

Memberships:

  1. Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
  2. Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)

Experience: No previous experience required.

Skills:

  1. Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
  2. Ability to perform a range of Radiation Therapy methods and processes including treatment planning, simulation, and treatment.
  3. Moderate judgment and problem-solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives.
  4. Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  5. Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long-term goals.
  6. Accuracy of fine motor movements required.
