Reporting to the Racing Pari-Mutuel Operations Manager, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino is looking for a part-time Mutuel Clerk to join our Off Track Betting (OTB) team for horse racing.

The Role

To provide quality customer service to all Off Track Betting and Live Horse Racing patrons and assist them with placing wagers and utilizing betting machines. To develop, enhance and maintain positive and effective relations with customers and other employees. To operate within and comply with all rules and regulations put forth by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency.

What You’ll Do

  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Processing horse racing bets on specialized betting terminals
  • Maintains and balances a float
  • Responds to and resolves guest issues, escalates as required
  • Provides basic technical support for betting machines, machine malfunction diagnosis
  • Reporting any suspicious activity to Security or Supervisor
  • Preparation and maintenance of decoders and televisions
  • Identifies and reports counterfeit bills (Cashiers and Managers)
  • Follows all rules outlined by the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency
  • All other job duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For

Candidate must possess strong:

  • Cash handling skills with the ability to mentally calculate cash back to guests
  • Computer skills to process transactions
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical ability and critical thinking
  • Ability to organize and communicate thoughts
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with limited supervision
Education: High school diploma. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Related OTB experience preferred but not essential.

Schedule

  • Varies between 4-8 hour shifts
  • Must have Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and some weekdays availability
