About the Role:

The Mechanical Engineer I uses their expertise in the definition, design and testing of medical device products as part of the development of EP ablation medical devices. As a member of EP's mechanical equipment design team in Montreal, they will contribute to development by designing and testing mechanical products for the delivery of treatment. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to take charge and direct studies.


Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Creates advanced CAD models of parts, assemblies and equipment using SolidWorks tools and SolidWorks Electrical.
  2. Creates drawings in SolidWorks following internal Global Boston Scientific Corporation CAD standards and templates.
  3. Uses CAD Database Management tool to track drawings, parts, assemblies’ revisions and properties.
  4. Researches, develops, designs and evaluates mechanical and electro-mechanical material, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.
  5. Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.
  6. Develops new concepts from initial design to market release.
  7. Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.
  8. Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.

Required qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  2. Required minimum years of experience: 3 years with CAD Software such as SolidWorks and 2 years with Engineering experience.
  3. Strong mechanical engineering skills, specifically with plumbing, tubing assemblies and sheet metal design using a CAD software.
  4. Solid lab experience with debug, fixtures, and test equipment.
  5. Ability to provide technical leadership related to product and process design.
  6. Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  7. Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Experience with motors, gears and/or motor control applications.
  2. Experience with rapid prototyping.
  3. Experience with geometrical tolerancing and thermal analysis.
  4. Experience with thermodynamics and flow analysis.
  5. Experience using Solidworks Electrical 2D schematic and 3D Routing.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
