Our client, a manufacturing company located in Port Colborne, ON, is looking for a QC Manager to join their team.
What you will do in this role:
As part of the Leadership Group, manage Quality Assurance and Control Programs.
Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Conduct audits of the facility to ensure all departments are following the standards established for food safety, ISO, Kosher, and housekeeping.
Manage Quality Lab Technicians in both the Analytical and Microbiology Labs.
Analytical and Microbiological control of Xanthan Gum product quality, including sample requests and batch retains.
Implementation of in-process controls in various stages of production up to packaging.
Ensure Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements are met for food safety.
Implementation of environmental monitoring (SWAB samples, air sampler monitoring, etc.).
Material master data maintenance in SAP.
Comparison of customer specifications and release of the batches produced.
Coordination of customer-related application projects, special requests, and stability tests.
Processing complaints regarding product quality, including travel to customer sites to investigate.
Communicate daily to the Head QA Manager and Production Manager any customer concerns and conduct investigations to address the root causes of the concerns.
Manage testing and calibration of lab equipment and methods about functionality and compliance.
Training laboratory technician in accordance with the relevant job profile.
Take the lead to ensure the plant is ready for Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) and ISO annual recertification.
Regular training of employees in occupational safety, new methods, OOS procedures, guidelines in accordance with ISO 9001, IPEC GMP and FSSC 22000 guidelines.
Revision and improvement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Implement Kaizen initiatives to improve safety, quality, and sustainability.
Schedule and host customer audits and the resulting measures to fulfil customer requirements.
Coordinate quality assurance program with Head QA Manager.
Extension of microbiological tests to other areas.
What you will bring to the role:
Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP.
10 years in a food manufacturing quality management position.
Ability to travel on short notice to customer sites around the world.
Extended travel for job training at our European Plants.
Detail-oriented, resourceful, and focused with a solution-based approach.
