JOB LOCATION

This is an ON-SITE position located in Staples, Ontario

COMPENSATION

$24.00 - $28.00 / hour, Non-Exempt

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quality Control Inspector works with the Shipping, Packing, and Greenhouse teams to ensure the final product that we are packing and shipping meets or exceeds Sensei Ag quality standards. The Quality Control team guarantees the continuous supply of safe, wholesome, and premium quality products to customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Inspect the quality and quantity of products going into the packing facility from the greenhouse and the packing facility to the warehouse for shipment.
• Assess the product specifications and test them against customer requirements.
• Check and record specifications, such as fruit size, weight, colour, and defects.
• Place and release on-hold product.
• Record observations into Excel.
• Ensure products are in compliance and within legal and quality standards.
• Prepare reports, review progress and requirements with the quality team.
• Inspect, record, and report on the quality status of all incoming, outgoing, and current commodities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, and Food Safety.
• Basic understanding of Fresh Fruit & Vegetable regulations, plus Consumer Packaging & Labeling requirements and standards.
• Excel and computer skills are essential.
• Must be able to distinguish colours.
• Comfortable working in greenhouse and packing and refrigerated environment (warm/cold environments).
• The employee is required to stand, walk, bend, use hands to handle or feel product or packaging; and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 kg.
• Must be willing to work shifts/flexible hours.

Bonus points if you have...

• Experience in Quality Control.
• Experience in the greenhouse or manufacturing quality role in the vegetable processing/packaging industry.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

• Secondary School Education or equivalent required, post-secondary education preferred.
