Quality Control Inspector
Job description
Responsibilities
- Responsible for inspecting the Hydro tested vessels.
- Verify, monitor and report overall quality performance reporting to QA Manager.
- Develop and document testing procedures of hydro testing.
- Ensure that all aspects of production are monitored.
- Collect and compile experimental data and assist in the development of reports.
- Be a team member of the clients Quality Audits on Contractors project execution.
- Inspect materials received from suppliers.
- Approve Material Test Reports (MTRS) by checking against the requirements of ASME Section II and other related Specifications.
- Assign Job Code/Numbers to materials and release for fabrication.
- Inspect Welding consumables and approve MTRs.
- Inspect Pressure Vessels, Piping, Skids, Platforms, Ladders, Pipe racks, and Structural Components.
- Inspect Vessel Internals and attachments.
- Check layout, dimensions and materials for conformance to the Approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify and mark up vessels and piping for Non Destructive Examination (NDE).
- Map NDE on Drawings and/or forms developed for Project.
- Inspect vessels and piping for completion prior to release for Post Weld Heat Treatment.
- Conduct external inspection of vessels and piping and record the results.
- Conduct and witness hydrostatic tests for vessels and piping.
- Complete hydrostatic test reports for piping.
- Check the quality of surface preparation for conformance to Codes and Specifications.
- Inspect Surface Preparation and record the results.
- Check the quality of coating and review the reports.
- Conduct leak tests of assembled skid package and produce a leak test report.
- Conduct final P&ID check.
- Write Nonconformance reports when necessary.
- Liaise with production personnel.
- Liaise with Third party personnel when requested by the QA Manager.
- Sign off the Inspection and test plan and/or Travel sheet as each activity is completed.
- Stamp and install nameplates on completed vessels.
- Inspect equipment packaging and preparation for shipping.
- The QC Inspector may be required to work some shift work as the project dictates.
Experience
- 3 years of inspection experience in the manufacturing of pressure vessels, pressure piping, and structural components.
Education and Accreditation
- CSA W178.2 Level 1 (ASME Section VIII and IX or B31.3)
- Certified Engineering Technician or Materials Engineering Graduate.
