Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, managing audits, overseeing labeling and documentation, and leading the QA team. This role requires a proactive leader who can work independently and drive continuous improvement in food safety and quality systems.

Must Haves:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a QA management role within a food manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and industry certifications (GFSI, SQF, BRC, etc.).
  4. Experience with audits and regulatory compliance, including GFSI, Costco, Organic, and SMETA requirements.
  5. Proficiency in managing food labeling, supplier documentation, and food safety documentation.
  6. Hands-on experience with software for creating Nutritional Fact Sheets.
  7. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and develop staff.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  9. Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make informed decisions.
  10. Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all aspects of the Quality Assurance program to ensure compliance with regulatory and certification standards, including GFSI, Organic, and SMETA.
  2. Serve as the GFSI Practitioner, maintaining and improving the company’s food safety and quality management systems.
  3. Prepare for and lead third-party audits and customer inspections, ensuring compliance with all food safety and quality requirements.
  4. Develop, review, and maintain QA documentation, including policies, SOPs, HACCP plans, and food safety programs.
  5. Manage labeling compliance, ensuring all packaging and product labels meet regulatory requirements.
  6. Work with suppliers to obtain necessary documentation, including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), allergen statements, and ingredient specifications.
  7. Create and maintain Nutritional Fact Sheets using software.
  8. Lead and mentor the QA team, providing training and guidance to ensure adherence to food safety protocols and quality standards.
  9. Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation programs.
  10. Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to product quality and food safety.
  11. Collaborate with production, R&D, and procurement teams to maintain and improve quality processes.
  12. Stay up to date with industry regulations, food safety trends, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and improvements.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
