Job description

Summary

Under limited supervision, administers quality systems activities for specific product lines by performing the following duties personally or through others.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform Water testing
  • Support the manufacturing lines at all times.
  • Assist other Quality Systems department personnel by covering other specific product lines when necessary.
  • Monitor quality criteria for specific product lines.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Conduct outside supplier receiving and finished goods audits to verify that incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods meet quality criteria.
  • Participate in Cross-Functional Work Team meetings as needed with other personnel to discuss quality issues on assigned production lines.
  • Provide occasional training to production workers to help identify defective raw materials and finished goods.
  • Conduct work-in-process quality audits and document results.
  • Present quality charts and data at startup meetings.
  • Develop and make visual displays depicting good and bad parts, e.g. acceptable and unacceptable glass.
  • Observe conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors such as numbers and causes of unit failures.
  • Quarantine and oversee disposition of non-compliant material.
  • Conduct temper break test and lami pummel and bake tests on a regular basis.
  • Monitor accumulation of scrap material on an ongoing basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Must mentor and provide help to develop co-workers in Quality Systems Department and in production.
